Horror
Yearning for an idyllic family life, Saga and her British husband, Jon, relocate to her childhood home—a remote house buried deep within the Finnish woods. Yet the moment their child is born, a chilling certainty grips Saga: something is horribly wrong, even as everyone around her insists everything is fine. As the strain fractures their marriage, Jon desperately tries to stand by his wife, but only Saga senses the sinister secret lurking within their newborn.

More About This Film

Nightborn is a Finnish folk-horror drama about Saga and her husband Jon, who retreat to the Finnish countryside as they begin a new chapter as parents. Their happiness is unsettled when Saga develops a disturbing suspicion about their newborn child.

The film keeps the audience close to Saga's perspective, making the boundary between reality, fear and perception increasingly uncertain. Seidi Haarla and Rupert Grint lead the production, with Finnish locations and a cold, secluded atmosphere giving the story much of its visual identity.
