Big Tree Guardian (2026)

More than ten years ago, Dr. Hsu uncovered a towering Taiwan cypress tightly wrapped in industrial steel cables deep within the island’s remote highlands. That startling discovery launched a multi-year conservation quest. Assembling the Tree Seekers expedition, the crew crisscrossed the nation, training in precision climbing and custom rigging to dismantle the metal bindings trapping massive “cable trees.” Through their dedicated fieldwork, they liberated iconic specimens known as Song Yun-Yun, Iron Man, Kingma, and Fat Tiger. After exactly a decade, the group revisited that initial mountain guardian, carefully cutting away its final restraints and christening it Sun Wukong. This cinematic journey captures a ten-year mission of ecological restoration, personal reflection, and the profound relationship between humans and living forests.
