Struwwelpeter - Wer nicht hören will, muss fühlen (2026)

On her first visit to her grandmother’s house with her mother, Renate, Eli quickly senses the disturbing reason she has never met her grandmother. Drawn to the forbidden cellar door, Eli opens it and uncovers her mother’s painful past while accidentally unleashing Struwwelpeter—the ill-mannered child who should never have left the cellar. Now this figure gives form to the violence Renate endured as a child and seeks revenge for the injustices of cruel, authoritarian upbringing.
