The Oil in My Blood (2026)

The Oil in My Blood is a fable for my daughter Mar that recasts an offshore oil platform as a sea monster locked in confrontation with a mermaid. Blending memory and metaphor, it weighs the broken promises of progress, Pemex’s exploitation, and the poisoned waters of Tabasco, where families survive on precarious labor. At its heart, the story reveals a painful paradox: the sacrifices that sustain livelihoods also endanger the land, the sea, and generations still to come.
