Papagayo (2026)
Director: Omar Al Abdul Razzak
One month after the Hamas attack and Israel’s devastating military response—a moment framed as the start of the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza—an Israeli illustrator based in Spain ends her longtime relationship with her partner, a Spanish filmmaker of Syrian descent. Omar chooses to carry on with the film they had begun together, drawing on footage captured in the Middle East and the half-finished illustrations his former love left behind. What unfolds is a story about religious extremism and its absurdities, and a raw, painful examination of a couple who longed to stay together despite the cultural divides between them.
