Pockets (2026)

June 21, 1941, Chisinau, Moldavian SSR. On a military airfield, Captain Afanasy Karmanov shares a quiet exchange with a mechanic who wonders whether war is coming—he’s unsure what to tell his wife in a letter. Karmanov calms him: nobody wants war, but they’re ready if it comes. By sunrise, that readiness is put to the test as war erupts. Karmanov takes to the skies, engaging the enemy and downing hostile planes. Karmanov captures the last breaths of peace and the story of a pilot unaware that in just two days, he will fall in the very skies he fought to protect.
