Rosemary Peony Walten—born on April 20, 1934—was a Brighton, Michigan native who wore many creative hats: painter, filmmaker, and composer. After honing her craft at the Brighton Public College for Arts, she poured her soul into locally beloved artworks that earned a devoted regional following. The 1960s saw her behind the camera on a string of original shorts, including "The Dancing Sheep" and "Crescendo," among a host of others. By the 1970s, she teamed up with her husband, Jack Walten, and their close friend Felix Kranken at B.S.I., where her imaginative character designs brought to life the mascots of the cherished local eatery, Bon's Burgers. At home, Rose was the heart of a warm, close-knit family, raising three children alongside her ever-supportive spouse. A faithful pillar of the Brighton Community Church, she and Jack co-hosted numerous charity galas, often donating her own original pieces to worthy causes. Then came July 19, 1974—the day Rosemary vanished without a trace, never to be found again.
