New York Never Let Me Down (2026)

Charlotte Wells steps inside the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region to meet Paula Spiro, a celebrated drummer and drum instructor whose former students include Luscious Jackson drummer and original Beastie Boy Kate Schellenbach. After leaving New York in 2024, the elderly Spiro looks back on her life in the city with awe and impeccable rhythmic recall, creating a heartfelt tribute to the artists and queer elders being displaced from the place they helped shape.
