Haje (2026)

In 2018, filmmaker Hwang Yun sets out to build a new life in Gunsan, only to stumble upon Haje—a village reduced to ruins. Almost everyone has gone, yet Jeon Jin-hyeon stays behind, standing firm against the Ministry of National Defense's forced removals. At the heart of this abandoned place stands a 600-year-old hackberry tree, one of Haje's final survivors, now endangered by the expansion of a U.S. military base. Peace activists rally around it, and Yun becomes one of them. As dangerous weapons flow into the base, they launch the monthly Paeng Paeng Cultural Festival, treating Haje and its ancient tree as a symbol of peace on the front lines. More than five years of relentless struggle later, the tree earns recognition as a national heritage site.
