This cinematic meditation dives headfirst into the 'atopia' gripping Socrates in Plato’s *Symposium*—that intoxicating, aesthetic vertigo of losing oneself entirely. Rather than lecturing, the film embodies this out-of-body trance through a live, raw improvisation by cellist Giovanni Sollima, whose performance unfolds against a volatile canvas of hand-destroyed 35mm celluloid. Using acid burns, splashes of pigment, deliberate gouges, and abrasive scrapes, the imagery becomes a visceral, physical partner to the music. In this alchemy, the intimate, secret dialogue between musician and instrument is reborn as a tactile conversation with the film strip itself, forging a startlingly synaesthetic fusion where sound bleeds into sight and the viewer feels the performance in their very bones.
