Broadcast just once—on a frigid December night in 1998—*ERi-TV The Sunken Sahara* surfaces from forgotten cassette tapes and long-lost duplicate VHS recordings. A fractured artifact of the Eritrea-Ethiopia conflict, it’s been called propaganda by some, protest art by others, and something far stranger by a few. Witnesses, allegedly “brainwashed,” described what they saw as “magic.” The original creators and everyone linked to the broadcast remain unknown, their words blurred by time, misremembered and misheard.
