As she pins clothes to dry, a Roma girl named Nada appears and reads her fortune from the dregs of a coffee cup. Spurred by that tiny omen, Bela spends the afternoon waiting for her son. When word comes that he won’t be visiting, a quiet emptiness fills her home. But in that stillness, Bela turns inward—and begins to sense her late husband’s return.
