Investigation: City of Pipes (2026)

In 2014, an unprecedented petrochemical gas explosion shook Kaohsiung and once again exposed the city’s unresolved reliance on heavy industry. This film frames a fictional investigation around voice as its core investigative method. Starting with the ruptured petrochemical pipeline that triggered the disaster, it gradually reveals the relationship between Kaohsiung’s petrochemical industry and local citizens, while uncovering an industrial history that spans Taiwan’s transition from authoritarian rule to democracy.
