What phrase can still call forth the essence of our world? Four hundred meters beneath the coastal landscape of Antrim, the hum of industrial machines and the rhythm of verse reverberate from the depths of Ireland’s sole working salt mine. Drawing inspiration from and featuring Seamus Heaney’s poem “The Singers House,” this short documentary casts a lyrical eye on the salt mine as both a human-made cavern and a wild ecosystem, uncovering a trace of ourselves within its strange acoustics and surreal architecture.
