Struggling Ojibwe painter Ish is barely keeping his head above water—his canvases aren't moving, he’s drowning in debt to his gallery handler, and a menacing local thug keeps circling his studio like a shark. Hoping to escape the pressure, he bolts for a solo retreat, only to collide with Ziibi, a magnetic stranger who insists she belongs to an underwater realm straight out of tribal lore: the Nibiinaabe, the legendary water people.
