Banana Plant (2026)
Director: Claudia Claremi
In Rochester, New York, a Puerto Rican family nurtures the banana trees growing in their backyard with devotion. As winter sets in, they carefully lift the plants from the ground and move them inside to shield them from the chill. When spring returns, the trees are planted back into the soil, perpetuating a seasonal tradition that unfolds year after year. Through this tender routine, Migdalia and Fernando preserve a vibrant connection to their heritage, turning their labor into a powerful expression of resilience and a means of navigating life in the diaspora.
