We handed cameras to people across Ukraine and asked one simple thing: “Show us what your everyday world really looks like. What do you want the world to see?” Here’s what they chose to capture. This is the raw, unfiltered reality of their routines, their resilience, and their humanity. This is their life unfolding right now. Look. Witness. Please don’t turn away.

More About This Film

Alltag in der Ukraine #dontlookaway is a long-form documentary project created by Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf that follows Ukrainian people through everyday life during the ongoing war. Instead of relying on studio narration, the project places viewers alongside several people in eastern Ukraine and lets their routines and surroundings provide the central perspective.

The documentary was broadcast as part of Joko & Klaas LIVE after the presenters received airtime that they could use for their own programming. The resulting film became a much longer special than the usual fifteen-minute format and was presented without commercial interruption.

  • The film was shown in Germany on June 4, 2026.
  • Six Ukrainian perspectives were used to build the documentary.
  • Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf are credited with the project.
  • The program was broadcast in Ukrainian with German subtitles.
  • The full presentation ran for roughly 200 minutes.
