Die Toten Hosen – Das letzte Album is a documentary following the German punk-rock band Die Toten Hosen as they create what is presented as their final regular studio album. Over many months, Campino, Andi, Breiti, Kuddel, and Vom work together in an isolated studio environment, writing, recording, rejecting ideas, and searching for the songs that will complete the band's studio legacy.

Eric Friedler was given unusually close access over two years, capturing the creative process as well as the relationships, disagreements, humor, and pressure surrounding such a consequential recording project. The film also follows the band on tour, placing their live performances in the context of a possible final chapter.
