What if We Kept it Between Us? (2026)
Director: Mahlet Cuff
Cast: Frankie Knuckles
Drawing on never-before-seen archival clips of ballroom, voguing, juke, footwork, and dancehall—alongside movement traditions from across the African and Black Queer diaspora—and set to the pulsating sounds of electronic duo Drexciya, *What if We Kept it Between Us?* re-centers Black music genres that have long been stripped and repackaged. In a bold pushback against cultural extraction, the film reframes gatekeeping not as exclusion, but as a sacred act of preservation—safeguarding the living archives of Black music and dance from further erasure.
