Baby Bird (2026)

An American-born Chinese nanny, Helen, is living and working in a Chinese home when she stumbles upon a stash of old language workbooks among her late mother’s belongings. The books document her repeated struggles to learn Mandarin as a child, and Helen becomes haunted by the belief that her mother harbored deep resentment toward her. As this dark, distorted version of her mother takes over her thoughts, she starts losing touch with the real woman she once knew. Meanwhile, her already fragile place in the household begins to unravel, threatening the precious bond she shares with her young charge, Xiao Shao.
