Director: Youssef Askar
Strange Encounters is a short experimental film that explores brief meetings with people, places and moments that seem ordinary at first but become increasingly uncanny. Instead of relying on a conventional plot, it builds its experience through images, music and the feeling that something familiar has become strange.
Youssef Askar created the film as a compact audiovisual experiment, allowing atmosphere and visual composition to do most of the storytelling. Its short running time makes it closer to an experimental film poem than a traditional narrative feature.
