The Station, also known by its Arabic title Al Mahatta, is set in war-torn Yemen and follows Layal, who runs a women-only fuel station that becomes a rare safe space where women from very different backgrounds can gather. The station provides the setting for conversations about family, gender, conflict, and the pressures of everyday life.
Directed by Sara Ishaq, the film balances drama with elements of humor and social observation. A central family conflict develops when Layal's estranged sister returns with an unexpected proposal involving Layal's younger brother, forcing the siblings to confront ideas about identity and what it means to grow up in a fractured society.
The Station has primarily followed a festival and theatrical path, with digital availability dependent on international distribution deals.
