When Tae-pyeong, Yoon-chae, and their pals set off for Bali, they're drawn in by the island's otherworldly beauty. Their local guide Nova fills them in on Nyepi Day, Bali's revered Day of Silence, a sacred occasion when eating, pleasure, travel, and even light itself must come to a halt. But during their island adventures, Tae-pyeong shatters a strange urn by accident, setting off a chain of eerie and horrifying events. Before long, the group finds themselves breaking Nyepi's sacred laws against their own will. As reality unravels around them, Tae-pyeong starts to grasp that something far more malevolent lurks beneath the surface — a force that might never let them escape the island alive.

More About This Film

Nyepi, also known internationally as Taboo or The Silent Day, is a Korean-Indonesian horror thriller set against the unique cultural atmosphere of Bali's Nyepi celebration. A group of Korean tourists become caught in a chain of supernatural events after an incident at a sacred site in Ubud.

The film uses the traditions surrounding the Balinese Day of Silence as more than a backdrop, making cultural rules and spiritual beliefs part of the suspense. Its short runtime gives the story a direct, escalating pace as the visitors discover that crossing certain boundaries may have serious consequences.
