Covil (2026)

Covil is a 2026 Brazilian psychological horror mystery directed and written by Rodrigo Lages. The story follows Olivia, who moves with her husband Pedro into an inherited house marked by painful family disputes. Inside the property, the couple discovers a locked room that cannot be opened, while strange noises and an unsettling presence begin to challenge their sense of reality.

Juliana Lourenção stars as Olivia, with Daniel Rocha as Pedro and Vitória Strada as Clara, a mysterious woman who claims to have lived in the house for a long time. James Turpin, Carolina Watts and Darlan Júnior also appear in the cast. Blending drama, horror, mystery and psychological suspense, the film uses the isolated house and its hidden history to explore family secrets, distrust and the fragile boundary between perception and reality.

• Covil premiered at the 2026 Fantaspoa International Fantastic Film Festival, where it won Best National Film in the Brazilian competition.
• The film had its world premiere on April 23, 2026, and was subsequently released through Telecine on May 20, 2026.
