Next Life (2026)

Next Life is a 2026 British science-fiction romantic drama directed and written by Drake Doremus. Set in the modern London jazz scene, the film follows Ivy as a seemingly ordinary journey creates two possible timelines: in one, she begins a romance with a charismatic jazz musician, while in the other, she reconnects with her former fiancé. The parallel stories ask how chance, timing and personal choices can shape the lives we imagine for ourselves.

Emilia Clarke stars as Ivy, with Édgar Ramírez as jazz musician Diego and Jack Farthing as Noah, Ivy's former fiancé. The film also features Femi Koleoso, Molly Gromadzki, Adil Akram and others. Combining romance, drama, music and speculative science fiction, Next Life uses its alternate-reality premise to explore love, fate and the possibility that there may be more than one meaningful version of a life.

• Next Life had its world premiere in the Spotlight Narrative section of the 2026 Tribeca Festival on June 5, 2026.
• Drake Doremus directed the film as well as writing the screenplay, with producers including Doremus, Emilia Clarke, Kate Buckley, Gleb Fetisov, Elika Portnoy and Ben Pugh.
• Principal photography took place in London, with cinematographer Marianne Bakke and editor Avner Shiloah working on the production.
• Dan Romer composed the original score, while Femi Koleoso, drummer of the British jazz group Ezra Collective, appears in the cast.
