Alma Negra, do Quilombo ao Baile is a 2026 Brazilian documentary directed by Flávio Frederico and co-written by Frederico and Mariana Pamplona. The film takes a historical and cultural journey through the development of soul music in Brazil, tracing its arrival in the late 1960s and the rise of the famous black dances in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Through archival material, music and the perspectives of Black intellectuals and cultural figures, the documentary explores how these dances became spaces of resistance, pride and affirmation of Black identity.
