Mononoke the Movie: Chapter III - The Curse of the Serpent is a 2026 Japanese animated fantasy mystery and horror film, and the concluding chapter of the three-part Mononoke movie trilogy. Directed by Tomoaki Koshida with Kenji Nakamura serving as chief director, the film returns to Edo Castle's inner palace, where the Medicine Seller senses that the disturbances he encountered in the previous chapters are far from over. A series of ominous events leads him toward the terrifying Serpent God and a secret connected to the origins of the Ooku.
Hiroshi Kamiya returns as the Medicine Seller, joined by Atsumi Tanezaki as Sachiko, Miyu Irino as Tenshi, Kenjiro Tsuda as Hokuto Mizorogi and Yoshiko Sakakibara as Suikoin. The voice cast also includes Tomoyo Kurosawa, Yoko Hikasa, Haruka Tomatsu, Kaji Yuki, Jun Fukuyama, Miyuki Sawashiro and Yukana. Like the earlier films, the movie combines supernatural mystery with highly stylized animation, using the Medicine Seller's search for the Form, Truth and Reason of a mononoke as the foundation of its story.
Mononoke the Movie: Chapter III - The Curse of the Serpent was released theatrically in Japan, but an official streaming release has not yet been announced. Major digital services are worth checking for future availability.
