Barrio Triste is a 2026 Colombian-American crime drama with fantasy and science-fiction elements, directed and written by Stillz in his feature-film debut. Set in Medellín in 1987, the film follows a group of disaffected teenagers who steal a television reporter's camera and begin recording their dangerous lives in a poor neighborhood. Their improvised documentary becomes an increasingly unsettling portrait of youth, violence, loneliness and the search for meaning.
Juan Pablo Baena, Samuel Velázquez, Tomás Tinoco Higuita, Samuel Andrés Celis, Brahian Acevedo, Bryan Erlín García, Estiven Salazar, José Arley Marín González and Samuel Ruiz lead the largely young cast. Blending found-footage techniques with coming-of-age drama and surreal genre elements, the film gradually moves beyond social realism as mysterious lights and strange disturbances begin to affect the characters' perception of reality.
Barrio Triste opened in limited theaters in July 2026, with its home-viewing release scheduled for October 9, 2026. Digital and streaming availability may vary by territory.
