Being Ola (2026)

In the serene Norwegian hamlet of Vidaråsen, home to just 150 people—a thoughtful blend of individuals with and without disabilities—30-year-old Ola leads a gentle, nature-rooted life. This close-knit community thrives on empathy, mutual respect, and interdependence, all set against a backdrop of slow, mindful living. Ola, who has an intellectual disability, fills his days with simple rhythms: working in the village workshop, pulling carrots from the earth, and spending hours in easy conversation with his closest friend, Lasse, who also calls the village home. These heartfelt chats and their warm bond are the bright spots of Ola’s daily world. Yet, lingering just beneath the surface is the quiet worry that Lasse might one day grow tired of his work—or decide to return to Denmark.
