The Love Hypothesis (2026)

The Love Hypothesis follows Olive Smith, a Stanford biology PhD student who impulsively enters a fake relationship with intimidating professor Adam Carlsen. What begins as a practical arrangement becomes increasingly complicated as their professional lives and personal feelings begin to overlap.

Adapted from Ali Hazelwood's bestselling romance novel, the film mixes academic life, scientific ambition, workplace tension, and the classic fake-dating setup. The story keeps Olive's career and friendships important alongside the central romance.

• Directed by Claire Scanlon and written by Sarah Rothschild.
• Lili Reinhart plays Olive Smith and Tom Bateman plays Adam Carlsen.
• Rachel Marsh, Jaboukie Young-White, and Arty Froushan are also part of the principal cast.
• The novel began as Star Wars fan fiction before Ali Hazelwood turned it into the bestselling book.
• The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on September 23, 2026 and quickly became one of the platform's most-watched new releases.
